Little Things

There are many parts of life we miss everyday, from the time we wake up to the time we sleep. We often loose ourselves in the everyday routine and what once had magic has dust. Everything we see, we tend to not see anymore.

The little things, is a series that I started without even actually knowing it. It's amazing how little things can be so interesting when you open your mind. They can also show little by little how you are as a person. I think it's important to pay attention to the little things in life every once in a while, we never really know how long we'll be able to do them. They can also help guide is in finding where we are in life and how much you've grown.

I don't think I'll ever stop documenting the little things as long as I have some form of camera!

(p.s. Sarah told me I remind her of William Eggleston's work~! I think I'm doing things right???...but in my own way... ㅋㅋ)

Face#3

Long Shoot!!!
The photoshoot started at 5pm and we officially ended at 10:54pm. Four models were reserved for this session, though only three were able to make it. In this session we were only able to get two paper faces and one painted. We had trouble with lighting since the battery wasn't charged. The prepping for each model took about 1hr and we only got 30 of shoot time for each model, but thanks to that lunch break we had during it we were able to get through it in the end. The set up ended being a little different since we were on location rather than on studio, but it all worked in the end.

So all I can really say is that I have one more image to take before the series can be completed! Please look forward to it.

Teasers Coming Soon~!

Note: The series has a grungy look to it and is a little dark. It's a series that is meant to be in both color and B&W, I will reveal the color version first (surprise!).
(I don't expect everyone to love it, but constructive feedback is always welcomed.)

Exterior Shot

A while a go I did an exterior shot. It was defiantly out of my comfort zone, but I learned a lot. Exterior shots are difficult to do especially when you are photographing a very large building surrounded by other buildings. Not only did I run into that situation, but I also had to deal with distortion.

I had been scouting for areas that would give me a good angle and I ended up climbing up some stairs of a building. (The steps were at the side of the building and only metal.) Also, I'm partially afraid of heights, so my heart speed up a little on my way up and down.

It was exciting at the same time to go out and take the image. Unfortunately I did get a little too excited and didn't pay attention to some things. The poles ended up being in the shot and are a little distracting. The image wasn't too bad for my first attempt though. I took it in the late afternoon when there was high contrast. I'm content with my first try but plan to improve more and practice more in the future.

Face #2

As I get more into the Face Series I recently started, I am better understanding the reason(s) why I wanted to do the series and what it is about. It's still difficult to say, but I can understand the reasons I do each shoot differently.

I have taken the second image. Nearly done with the editing too! Here's a little preview/teaser for now~

!?!? Confusedㅋㅋ

Safe = Holding Yourself Back

So as some of you may know, the fashion class had an assignment of shooting a head shot. My thought process is through quick sketches before I can set out to do an actual shoot. My idea was to use roses since I got inspired by Lee Hi's MV Rose. However,I was not able to execute fully the vision I had in my head. I'm still holding myself back somehow and I was not able to capture the expression fully. I'm still okay with my work since I was a bit more creative this time, but still need to fully let go and be more bold. My image still had a portrait feeling to it so I plan to push myself for my next shoot further.

Solo Wind

I did a fashion photoshoot on Sunday since it was the only day I could photograph on that weekend. I'm somewhat used to going solo when photographing, but I was reminded once again why at least one assistant is always needed, especially on location. The wind was not so friendly and did not like the large umbrella I set up. The clouds also decided to hide the sun whenever I tried to compose. It was a difficult photoshoot and I'm currently in the process of editing. I had wanted to photograph this area for a long time now and plan to try it again with the hopes that it will be a not so windy or difficult cloudy day. However, I did use the wind for effects when I could.

(Also, fun fact, it's a little difficult to balance/pose on a large rock with branches that easily break off, while in six inch heals.)
